Experience. Diligence. Insight.
I qualified as a doctor (MBChB) in 1998 at the University of Birmingham. After initial postgraduate training I became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in 2002. I then undertook specialist training on the St George's, Maudsley and Guy's Hospital schemes in London, also obtaining a Masters degree (MSc) in Psychiatric Research in 2007.
I have been approved on the General Medical Council (GMC) specialist register to practice General Adult and Old Age Psychiatry since 2009. I have been awarded two NHS Clinical Excellence Awards, in 2010 and 2012. I left my NHS consultant post in 2014, in order to devote more time to patient care within the private sector. Since 2014 I have thoroughly enjoyed my work as a full time Visiting Consultant at Priory Hospital Woking, seeing people as out-patients in my clinic, day patients or in-patients in the hospital.
Research & Publications
I am a co-author of a leading undergraduate textbook of psychiatry, Psychiatry PRN, which received a 'highly commended' prize at the 2010 British Medical Association book awards and updated as a second edition in 2020.
I have also published articles in peer-reviewed journals on psychiatric education, considering how to train better doctors for the future. My MSc thesis studied the use of cannabis in early psychosis.
